TOUR OVERVIEW

Most Americans living down here, describe Costa Rica as "Hawaii on steroids 70 years ago,"  As you travel with us, you will see some of what we enjoy daily.  Get to know the typical Costa Rica at the spots we've chosen. You will have free time to play pickleball, wander and choose the activities the desire. (Optional) tours are also available on free days.

You will stay, tour, and play in 2 distinct areas; the rural, cool Central Highlands (where we live) and  later play pickleball in the the tropical rainforest Pacific Coastal area of Punta Leona.

The waterfall gardens, our first stop, is the #1 most visited privately owned ecological attraction in Costa Rica.  It features some of the best hiking and waterfalls of Costa Rica.  In addition, it is an animal sanctuary with over 100 species of animals and an environmental education program.

Later, in the Central highlands, experience a small, family-run organic coffee farm and a family-run butterfly farm (Costa Rica boasts the largest variety of butterfly species in the world), both selected because they are not your typical commercial tourist traps. You will not only learn about coffee and butterflies, you will see the "real" Costa Rican mingling with the people, their lives, and their culture. These trips are highly rated by every past pickler we've had.

Enjoy the typical farmer's market on a grand scale, with all its colorful fruits, vegetables, and other fare.  Then travel to a famous artisan town known for its wood-working, culture and history, and crafts.

Later, we'll travel to the Pacific coastline. At the first of three beaches, you'll see families of white faced capuchin monkeys and coatis. We'll provide fruit for you to feed them, as they gently take it from your fingers.

Experience our favorite 3 mile long, deserted and palm-lined beach.  The sunsets are amazing!

Your hotel for the last 4 days is located on 2 beaches, kept a secret from most tourists.  This beautiful resort has 11 sports and 11 water sports, daily scheduled classes, pools, and lots to see and do.
