Most Americans living down here, describe Costa Rica as "Hawaii on steroids 70 years ago,"  As you travel with us, you will see some of what we enjoy daily.  You will also get to be a tourist at the spots we've chosen. You will have free time to wander and choose the activities the desire. You will stay in 2 distinct areas; the rural, cool Central Highlands (where we live) and  later play pickleball in the quaint beach town of Jaco.

La Paz Waterfall Gardens, our first stop, is the #1 most visited privately owned ecological attraction in Costa Rica.  It features some of the best hiking and waterfalls of Costa Rica.  In addition, it is an animal sanctuary with over 100 species of animals and an environmental education program.

Later, in the Central highlands, you will experience a small, family-run organic coffee farm and a family-run butterfly farm (Costa Rica boasts the largest variety of butterfly species in the world), both selected because they are not your typical commercial tourist traps. You will not only learn about coffee and butterflies, you will get a real feel for the Costa Rican people, their lives, and their culture. These trips are highly rated by every past pickler we've had.

As we travel to Jaco, we'll stop by the first of  three beaches you'll see, which has families of white faced capuchin monkeys and coatis, if we're lucky.

Then we finsih the day before check-in, by traveling to our favorite 3 mile long, deserted and palm-lined beach.  The sunsets are amazing!

Be sure to bring your paddle and hone in on your skills with Claudia Fontana, author of Pickleball CPR Drills.   Her instruction is 2nd to none!
