Your tour is structured by Tony & Celeste Horpel of Pickleball Costa Rica. Tony is a USAPA Ambassador for Costa Rica.  Their courts are located just outside of San Ramon in the province of Alajuela, nestled in the cool Central Highlands of the rural coffee and agricultural region.

This is a very fun, personalized 8 day, (7 nights) pickleball trip which was created for those wanting a pickleball vacation enabling them to tour some of Costa Rica AND play pickleball. Tony and Celeste know!  They are pickleball addicts too. Additionally, there is an active group of picklers looking to take you on!

While Tony and Celeste take you to some of the popular spots in Costa Rica, it is also their goal to give you a feel of the "Real" Costa Rica and the friendly people that live there.  By taking you to some of the more out of the way places, you'll see Costa Rica like no one else!

Please be sure to check out the testimonials & video (found on top menu bar),& video.  Also, click the blue link (just below) if you haven't seen this review from 16-time National Pickleball Champion, Jennifer Lucore.  Pickleball Tour with Jennifer Lucore.

CLAUDIA FONTANA'S "REAL" COSTA RICA

You will spend the first 4 nights in the lush green beauty and solitude of one of Costa Rica's gems, Punta Leona.  There is a breathtaking beach known almost solely to Costa Ricans.  You will play pickleball morning, (and evening if you wish).  This portion of the trip allows you to play, relax, have a few experiences we've chosen, and also take some tours of your choice.

After your stay in Punta Leona, we will travel to the Central Highlands town of San Ramon where our club is.  During the remaining 3 days of your trip you will experience areas most never see.  Here in this area is where you get a feel for the "Real" Costa Rica.  You will see a small city, rural Costa Rica with working organic coffee farm, butterfly farm, an artisans town with lots of art, wood crafting, and interesting history.

Come join us and bring your camera.  You'll love your new experience, seeing Costa Rica like the locals do.  We love the beauty and diversity of this exotic country and we're certain you will love it too.

Your tour provides you with lots to see and do.  Bring your camera!

Many of these animals are released into the wild after rehabilitation!  Enjoy toucans, macaws, monkeys and many more animals of Costa Rica that reside at this lush habitat.
  • Take walks and/or free guided tours in the green tropical rain forests.
  • Feel the mist of a 100 ft. waterfall.
  • Tour an organic eco-coffee tour.  This excursion is a definite favorite of all who have visited it.
  • Butterfly farm and gardens.  The family owned business raises and sends butterflies to all parts of the world!

Booking your flight to and from San Jose:  Please read carefully.

  • Your airport for San Jose is Juan Santamaria International Airport.
  • Schedule your arrival for the morning, June 5th, no later than 11:45 a.m.  Depending on your airline & departure city, that means that you might have to be on an all night flight, leaving late night the 4th of June., arriving early morning the 5th, the day our tour starts.  We have a scheduled tour that afternoon as we wait for our hotel's 3 p.m. check in.
  • If you do not want to fly an all-nighter, please choose a flight that leaves the day before, (June 4th) and stay overnight in a hotel in San Jose.  Please contact us for suggestions of nice hotels with great prices. January is a busy month, so don't delay in securing a hotel.
  • We will have one transport to the hotel from the San Jose Airport.  If you are unable to make it onboard for our scheduled transport, you will be responsible to find and pay for your own transportation.  We will make every effort to accomodate everyone. Again, please schedule your flight to arrive no later than 11:45 a.m.  If flights arrive later, it will keep us doing one of the tour that is scheduled for that afternoon as we wait for 3 p.m. check-in time.
  • Ask us if you need help.
  • Our tour ends the morning of June 12.  You will be flying out of San Jose's Juan Santamaria International Airport.  Most guests choose to leave on the early flights, so our transport will take the bulk of guests leaving in the morning. The transport will leave, accomodating the earliest flight.  If some of you will be leaving later, there is a nice, inexpensive airport express, (quick and easy) leaving from San Ramon, leaving every 20 min.
